Four large crown-of-thorn starfish (COTS) graze on the side of the coral. The plate coral colony is about 2 meters from side to side. It must be at least 50 years old. The starfish are slowly eating the coral, having already eaten most of the other corals in the vicinity.

When two of them link arms, they can digest the coral more efficiently, linking their stomachs and digestive juices in a kind of feeding frenzy. A slow feeding frenzy.

They look soft, but the spines are so sharp it is impossible to feel the end without it penetrating the skin.

The crown-of-thorns has wrapped its 16 arms around the edge of the plate coral. They can fold their soft body into any form at all. It arranges the stomach over the living tissue

With the help of NJP applicators, the fight against this unwanted pest is continuing throughout the coral reefs of the world. A 20ml metal applicator with a specially designed spear is used to inject a solution (that will not harm the delicate reef) into the starfish. Each arm (as well as the body) must be injected as the COTS has the ability to regenerate itself.

The coral skeletons are still standing in positions of growth, but the colourful living coral flesh is gone. The coral skeletons are overgrown with algae. The colourful reef fish no longer fit into this environment and have gone elsewhere. The reefs look awful. Dead. Lots of Crown of Thorns starfish gobble up what's left of the tropical opulence.

So what is a Single Shot Repeater? A Repeater is an applicator that delivers a single dose of product each time you depress the lever. After each dose, the pushrod moves the desired distance to be ready for the next dose. The 25ml is incremented at 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5ml dose increments. The 50ml is incremented at 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5ml dose increments.

This means that if you have a 50ml repeater set on 2ml, you will get 25 single doses of 2ml. Once the cylinder is empty you re-insert the needle into the vaccine bottle and draw out another full cylinder of product.

The Metal repeaters have been in the NJ Phillips Pty Limited range for many years and are sold around the world. The Pistol Grip version is relatively new and offers the user many features.

The Pistol Grip version offers a unique handgrip that gives the user greater comfort, as well as providing a concealed chamber to hold spare needles. The applicator is nicely weighted and lighter than the metal version.

25ml Drencher and 25ml Pour-On

Yes it’s true! NJ Phillips have listened to the end user and some major and significant changes have been made to
this range, yet the same competitive price remains.

So what have we done? You may remember the grey coloured 25ml Applicator of the past. The cylinder was not transparent, the piston and lubricating washer were not accessible, the valves were old technology, the nozzle on the drencher was plastic and the spray nozzle on the pour-on was not always reliable.

The major changes to the Drencher are that it now has a translucent cylinder, easy to see through, with permanently embossed graduations, along with a METAL nozzle. The nozzle is made of the same high grade metal normally only available on the metal NJ Phillips 20ml: PAD1232.

Other changes to the Drencher include, ‘Quick Release’ clip in the handle which allows fast, easy access to the piston and felt. We have also added our new ‘All Purpose’ valves that give greater application ability with less chance of clogging. They are also more resistant to different chemicals.

With the Pour-On Applicator the above cylinder changes and valve changes are the same, but the added choice is incredible.

The standard Applicator comes with the ‘New Improved’ spray nozzle that gives reliable direction and pattern control. The same Applicator can easily be fitted with a range of accessories such as the 6-hole ‘T’ bar that is used for some pour-on application, fan tip, shower tip and stream tip nozzles.

Incredible, both the Applicators now come standard with 9mm (3/8) bore tubing that gives incredible refill speed. You also get the adaptor fitting that allows you to fit the Applicator to smaller container fittings.
