From its humble beginnings as a garden ornamental plant introduced into Australia in the 1840’s, it now possesses the title of ‘Weed of National Significance’ due to its detrimental impact on our environment and agriculture.
|
| Yes, it’s a pretty flower, but did you know that this invasive weed can be toxic to livestock, has the potential for fuelling intense wildfires and overtakes grazing land increasing mustering costs and reducing profitability for many landholders. |
| Herbicide is an effective way to control Lantana and with the help of the National Parks and Wildlife Service, we have developed the NJ Phillips Splatter Gun in both powered and manual versions for the application of herbicide where Lantana resides in dense populations. |

This Vaccinator continues our tradition of dependability and functionality within the NJ Phillips Pty Limited range. |
| We have incorporated the latest in technology through comfort and ‘ease of use’ yet maintains the ability to use the same spare parts used in the previous model. The significant improvement has been in the cylinder design, incorporating permanent graduations, and the very high chemical resistant material. |
| Further more, the packaging now reflects the actual product within the box, so resellers gain a highly visible saleable item that fits well into ‘on shelf’ displays. |

Bluetongue virus spreads through Northern Europe |
|
 |
As the bluetongue virus spreads through Europe, the situation has been compounded with the fact that there are different strains of the disease needing different vaccines and that some countries have been slow to vaccinate. The strain in Northern Europe and Great Britain is BTV8 but in Southern Europe it includes a number of different strains that have been tracked from North Africa and the Middle East. (See Bluetongue serotype map.) |
| Assisting the spread of the newest BTV8 strain was the fact that a vaccine was not in current production, pharmaceutical companies have been quick to develop vaccines but supplies are limited for this seasons vaccination programs. |
| In Great Britain the strategy has been to vaccinate in front of the outbreaks in an effort to minimise the spread, with vaccination up to the Midlands complete and further vaccinations planned when more vaccine becomes available. |
| We are working with our distributors throughout Europe to have vaccinators ready to assist implement the vaccination programs. The 1ml PAS1199 feed tube injector and the PAS1148 bottle mount injector for the small vials are proving popular with shipments being sent into Great Britain and Denmark. |
| Please contact craigw@njphillips.com.au or bowens@njphillips.com.au if you would like more information on these injectors. |

Bula! (Hello! in Fijian) |
| On a recent trip to Fiji I had the pleasure of staying at the lovely 'Malolo Island Resort', just 30 minutes by boat from Nadi. |
| While there, I investigated the marine pest the Crown of Thorns Starfish (COTS) which is devastating coral reefs around the world. |
| In conjunction with Ecological and Marine organisations, the NJ Phillips Pty Limited COTS Applicator is taking the fight to this pest to preserve our reefs for generations to come. |
| For more information on our COTS Applicator, please call (02) 4340 3646 or International enquiries please call +61 2 4340 2044. |
